GRAMMAR: Reported speech (Câu tường thuật) - Câu tường thuật tiếng Anh (hay còn gọi là câu gián tiếp) là một loại câu được sử dụng để thuật lại một sự việc hay lời nói của ai đó. Khi chuyển sang câu tường thuật cần chú ý thay đổi 3 vấn đề sau: 1. Changes of tenses (thay đổi thì - lùi 1 bậc) Direct speech (câu trực tiếp)  Reported speech (câu tường thuật) Present simple (thì hiện tại đơn) Past simple (thì quá khứ đơn) Present continuous (thì hiện tại tiếp diễn) Past continuous (thì quá khứ tiếp diễn) Present perfect (thì hiện tại hoàn thành) Past perfect (thì quá khứ hoàn thành) Past simple (thì quá khứ đơn) Past perfect (thì quá khứ hoàn thành) Present perfect continuous (thì hiện tại hoàn thành Past perfect continuous (thì quá khứ hoàn tiếp diễn) thành tiếp diễn) Past continuous (thì quá khứ tiếp diễn) Past perfect continuous (thì quá khứ hoàn thành tiếp diễn) will/ shall/ can/ may would/ should/ could/ might wust must/ had to 2. Changes of pronouns (thay đổi đại từ nhân xưng, tính từ sở hữu….) Statements: Câu phát biểu S + told + (O) + S + V (lùi 1 bậc) .... said (to + O ) Ex: “ I did my homework yesterday” Minh said.  Minh said he had done his homework the day before. 2. Yes – No questions: Câu hỏi Yes/ No wanted to know S + wondered if / whether + S + V (lùi 1bậc)…. asked + O Ex: “Do you like classical music, Nam ?” Miss Hoa asked. => Miss Hoa asked Nam if/ whether he liked classical music. 3. WH – questions: Câu hỏi có từ để hỏi S + V(said/told/ asked…) + wh + S + V (lùi 1bậc)……. (question word) Ex: “ What are you doing now ?” I asked her.  I asked her what she was doing then Ex1. Type 1 (Câu điều kiện loại 1) Use: Chỉ sự việc, hành động có thể xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc trong tương lai. (Câu điều kiện có thực ) Form: If clause Main clause If + S + V ( Present tense) …. , S + will/ can/ may/ might + V( bare - inf ) …. Ex: If it rains, I will stay at home. = I will stay at home if it rains. = Should it rain, I will stay at home 2. Type 2 (Câu điều kiện loại 2) Use: Chỉ sự việc, hành động không thể xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc tương lai, điều kiện chỉ là một giải thiết, một ước muốn trái ngược với thực tế ở hiện tại (Câu điều kiện không có thực ở hiện tại) Form: If clause Main clause If + S + V (past tense )/ could + V (bare - inf) …., S + would/ could + V (bare-inf)….
