  11. Flexi Multiradio BTS GSM/EDGE RF Module and RRH Overview Module Description 5 Overview 5.1 Overview of Flexi Multiradio BTS RF Module (FXxx) The Flexi Multiradio Radio Frequency Module (FXxx) or RF Module, is a 3-branch multi- carrier, multi-standard radio transceiver module. The module consists of three indepen- dent branches, capable of transmitting and receiving signals of multiple radio technolo- gies concurrently: • Up to 6 GSM carriers with 400 KHz minimum carrier separation • Up to 4 WCDMA carriers with 4.6 MHz minimum carrier separation • Multi-carrier LTE signal with 1.4 MHz, 3 MHz, 5 MHz, 10 MHz, 15 MHz, 20 MHz, and 35 MHz carrier bandwidth • Multi RAT operation with combination of GSM, WCDMA, and LTE g In this document, the RF Modules FXDA, FXDJ, FXEA, FXCA, and FXFA/ FXFB are referred to as 60 W RF Module variants. RF Modules FXCB, FXDB, FXEB, and FXFC are referred to as 80 W RF Module variants. g No support for Motorola protocol used in ex-Siemens TMA. 3x60W and 3x80W RFMs have identical ALD interface support, but ALD power feeding capability is less with Vegas. Each branch consists of a transmitter and two receiver chains. FXxA and FXFB (60 W) variants have front end software tunable filters (STuF). 80 W RF Module variants have fixed full band filters. FXxx is a 3U high module with an integrated, replaceable 3-fan assembly for module cooling. The supported functions are: • Chaining up to six RF Modules with OBSAI RP3_01 • 2-way receive diversity in the receiver chains • Integrated antenna line supervision • MHA, Antenna Hopping, EGPRS2, and VAMOS support • Digital and control circuitry, optical interface, DC/DC power conversion, and other necessary functionalities • Integrated DC line OVP, Class II rated to 5kA pulse (FXFB, 80 W RF Module vari- ants) • Remote Electrical Tilt (RET) support (FXFB, 80 W RF Module variants) Flexi Multiradio BTS GSM/EDGE modules are equipped with an integrated air guide plate providing full thermal compliance without casings. This allows installation of the modules without casings in Flexi cabinets and enclosed 19" racks. Casings and covers are recommended in standalone 19" racks (no cabinet) for safety reasons. Casings are not part of the FXxx delivery package. If the configuration requires casings, Flexi BTS Module Casing (EMHA) kits must be ordered. The Flexi Multiradio RF Module variants are: Version Description FXCA 850 60 W Table 1 Flexi Multiradio RF Module variants DN0947122 Id:0900d805809d2bf6 11 Confidential

  13. Flexi Multiradio BTS GSM/EDGE RF Module and RRH Overview Module Description Figure 4 Isometric view of 80 W RF Module 5.1.1 Software tunable filters (STuF) in 60 W RF Module variants STuF is a mechanical filter which is tuned with a small step motor, controlled automati- cally by the BTS software. There is one STuF on each branch of the FXxA and FXFB RF Modules. STuF has specific bandwidth on both RX and TX bands. The STuF tuning range covers the whole band, therefore a tuning window can be allocated anywhere within the band. When STuF is tuned, both RX and TX are tuned at the same time as RX and TX sides are mechanically coupled together. STuF is tuned only when the carrier allocation requires this. STuF center frequency is determined from TX & RX main frequency requests and also from diversity frequency requests when diversity sharing is used between the branches. g 80 W RF Module variants have fixed full band filters. See Table 1 Flexi Multiradio RF Module variants. 5.1.2 Digital predistortion (DAPD) The reference signal for digital predistortion and RF power control is provided by predis- tortion RX path (PDRX). The power amplifier delivers the coupled and attenuated TX signal to the PDRX. For digital pre-distortion and RF power control, this signal is atten- uated, band pass filtered, and down-converted. The predistorter improves the MCPA’s (TX) RF performance and is implemented in both hardware and software. DN0947122 Id:0900d805809d2bf6 13 Confidential

It is intended for outdoor mounting and optimized for feederless applica- tions. g In this document, the RRH Modules FHDA and FHEA are referred to as 2x40 W RRH. FHDB and FHEB variants are referred to as 2x60 W RRH. g The following 2x60 W RRH variants do not support the legacy Siemens MHA/TMA: FHDB, FHEB. The module consists of two independent branches, capable of transmitting and receiv- ing signals of multiple radio technologies concurrently: • Up to 6 GSM carriers with 400 KHz minimum carrier separation • 2x60 W TX capability (Note that FHxA variants have 2x40 W TX capability) • EGPRS2 and VAMOS support • Up to 4 WCDMA carriers with 4.6 MHz minimum carrier separation • Multi-carrier LTE signal with 1.4 MHz, 3 MHz, 5 MHz, 10 MHz, 15 MHz, and 20 MHz carrier bandwidth • Multi RAT operation with a combination of GSM, WCDMA, and LTE The supported functions are: • Chaining up to three RF Modules with OBSAI RP3-01 • Integrated antenna line supervision • MHA and RET support • Digital and control circuitry, optical interface, DC power input, and other necessary functionalities • Integrated DC line OVP, Class II rated to 5kA pulse • Input DC voltage monitoring The FHxx is installed on a pole or wall. Pole mounting kits supported by the FHxx are Flexi Pole Mounting Kit (FPKA) and Pole Mounting Kit (VMPB). For wall installations, the FHxx is mounted directly to the wall. The FHxx has no cooling fans, and relies on convection cooling. To ensure proper cooling, FHxx should always be mounted in a vertical orientation with connectors on the bottom side. 20. RF Module and RRH main blocks Flexi Multiradio BTS GSM/EDGE RF Module and RRH Module Description • There are interfaces from the RF control block towards the System Module through optical connection. Most unit internal connections are made from the RF control block. Signal processing and unit control functionalities are located in this block • TX block • Analogue RF parts are located in the TX block • RF Front end • Includes an RX filter with LNAs • Processes air interface RF signals for selected channels • Provides connection for Flexi Antenna Line to Flexi Multiradio Base Station • Supports usage of NSN Masthead Amplifier (MHA) units • Provides the supply voltage to the Flexi Antenna Line units via main antenna branch • Contains integrated bias-Ts with over-current and undercurrent alarm detec- tion/protection • PA block • The power amplifier block amplifies TX block output signal to a specified output power level • RX block • The RX block includes two 2-carrier receivers • Antenna filter block • Antenna filtering for TX and RX signals is done in the Antenna filter block See the following figure for the functional blocks of the RRH.
