Risedronat, một thuốc trị loãng xương đang được sử dụng phổ biến ở Việt Nam cũng như trên thế giới. Có nhiều phương pháp điều chế risedronat trên thế giới. Tuy nhiên, tất cả các phương pháp điều chế đều sử dụng nguyên liệu đầu là acid 3-pyridylacetic hydroclorid. Hiện nay, trong nước vẫn chưa có cơ sở nào sản xuất được và cũng chưa có nghiên cứu nào về chất này. Trong chương trình nghiên cứu tạo những nguồn nguyên liệu cho công nghiệp Dược mà ở đây là nguyên liệu thuốc trị loãng xương tác giả chú ý tới các dẫn xuất biphosphonat, trong đó có risedronat. Qui trình điều chế risedronat chia làm nhiều giai đoạn trong đó giai đoạn điều chế acid 3-pyridylacetic hydroclorid chiếm tỷ lệ lớn nhất. Trong bài này tác giả xin trình bày những kết quả nghiên cứu tổng hợp acid 3-pyridylacetic hydroclorid.
