Polymorphism characteristics of RS165599 in COMT gene in schizophrenia patients in Kinh population

To assess the frequency allele and genotypic distribution of polymorphism rs165599 in catechol-O-methyltransferase in Kinh ethnic-patients with schizophrenia. Subjects and methods: A case-control study consisted of 227 schizophrenic patients and 92 healthy controls in the Kinh ethnic. The rs165599 was genotyped by PCR-RFLP and statistical analysis was performed by Chi-Square test. Results: The frequency of allele A and G in schizophrenic patients were 72.36% and 69.94%, respectively. The frequency of allele A and G in healthy controls were 27.64% and 30.06%, respectively (p > 0.05).

In the majority of hypophosphatasia patients, reductions in the serum lev-els of alkaline phosphatase activity are caused by various missense muta-tions in the tissue-nonspecific alkaline phosphatase (TNSALP) gene. A unique frame-shift mutation due to a deletion of T at cDNA number 1559 [TNSALP (1559delT)] has been reported only in Japanese patients with high allele frequency.

Two allelic isoforms (H1.a1 and H1.a2) of histone H1.a were identified within two conservative flocks (R11 and R55) of Rhode Island Red chick-ens. These proteins form three phenotypes: a1, a2 and a1a2. Birds with phenotype a1 were most common (frequency 0.825–0.980) while the a1a2 chickens appeared relatively rarely (0.017–0.175).
