Alternative energy source

The demand for energy is increasing day by day worldwide due to population growth, industrialization and rising living standards. Geothermal energy, one of the alternative energy sources, is preferred in terms of providing environmentally friendly, quality and regular energy. Our country is rich in geothermal resource potential. However, there are still many unexplored geothermal resources. In this study, fuzzy-AHP method was used to determine the geothermal potential of Ağrı province.

The results of this study are that the licensing of geothermal exploitation management in accordance with law number 21 of 2014 provides open opportunities by conducting an auction and concession permit which lasts for 37 years and can be extended for 20 years by submitting an extension of a maximum of 5 years and no later than 3 years while granting licenses may expire; returned; revoked; or canceled.

The study uses data of a period 1968-2014 and cointegration test and corroborates a long- and short-run relationships. The results indicate that economic growth and energy consumption contributes in CO2 emissions in both long- and short-run. It means that increasing economic growth of the Kingdom has social cost on the economy in terms of pollution emissions. Based on findings, we recommend to use the alternative renewable sources of energy consumption to avoid the pollution effects of growth in Saudi Arabia.

The state should pay the cost of students’ accommodation, food, and books. Oil companies should research and develop alternative energy sources to ensure future profitability. Unemployed people who live on social welfare should do some kind of work for the money they receive.
