Automatic detection

Early detection of infertile and non-hatchable eggs benefits hatcheries by saving space, reducing costs, and preventing contamination from spoiled eggs. An automated system has been developed to detect and mark non-hatchable eggs efficiently. The system includes a conveyor that moves trays of 100 eggs through a high-power LED light assembly.

This thesis attempts to address the problem of how best to remedy different types of channel distortions on speech when that speech is to be used in automatic speaker recognition and verification systems. Automatic speaker recognition is when a person's voice is analysed by a machine and the person's identity is worked out by the comparison of speech features to a known set of speech features. Automatic speaker verification is when a person claims an identity and the machine determines if that claimed identity is correct or whether that person is an impostor.

The dissertation is composed of five chapters as follows: The importance of the topic, the definitions and the existing approaches are clearly addressed; Then, a comprehensive survey of the previous algorithms, existing work relating to interference detector are presented; Intermediated GNSS Spoofing detector based on angle of arrive; Sophisticated GNSS spoofing detector based on angle of arrive; Some limitations of the work are presented, along with possible solutions, which may need additional study.

In this thesis, the author focussed on providing an application framework to be used in brain segmentation - the process of tumor detection. This constitutes setting up software bundled into a Window machine which is easily distributable. Moreover, a segmentation algorithm was implemented and tested using the provided software. In order to test the bundled software by implementing specific brain segmentation from the literature, the author used CT scans freely available from the database of 108 Central Military Hospital.

A technique has been developed to search a proteome database for new members of a functional class of membrane protein. It takes advantage of the highly conserved secondary structure of functionally related membrane proteins. Such proteins typically have the same number of transmembrane domains located at similar relative positions in their polypeptide sequence. This gives rise to a characteristic pattern of peaks in their hydropathy profiles.
