The article establishes a correlation function between the load-bearing capacity of traditional steel pipe piles enhanced with two helical plates and the distance of those plates. This analysis focuses on the performance of piles in coral gravelly sand conditions, addressing a significant practical issue with considerable scientific value.

Among mandibular fractures, condyle fractures are common injuries which directly affect the occlusal function and aesthetics of the patients. Accurate diagnosis based on clinical and radiographic features helps to choose the appropriate treatment. This study aims to evaluate clinical features, morphologies on CT Scan of mandibular condyle fractures and analyze the relationship between these characteristics.

The aim of the research for this thesis is to develop objective measurement techniques that relate to the perceived subjective functional performance of critical listening rooms. It is also hoped that the research will lead to an increased understanding of the role of the individual listener in respect to their preferred room acoustical configuration.

Anharmonic effective potential, local force constant and correlation effects in XAFS of BCC crystals
Analytical expressions for the anharmonic effective potential, local force constant, Displacement-displacement Correlation Function (DCF) CR and Debye-Waller factor described by the Mean Square Relative Displacement (MSRD) σ2 and by the Mean Square Displacement (MSD) u2of bcc crystals in the X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (XAFS) have been derived. The effective interatomic potential of the system has been considered by taking into account the influences of nearest atomic neighbors, and it contains the Morse potential characterizing the interaction of each pair of atoms.

We take a critical look at the relationship between the security of cryptographic schemes in the Random Oracle Model, and the security of the schemes that result from implementing the random oracle by so called \cryptographic hash functions". The main result of this paper is a negative one: There exist signature and encryption schemes that are secure in the Random Oracle Model, but for which any implementation of the random oracle results in insecure schemes.

Embryos of the brine shrimp,Artemia franciscana, exhibit remarkable resistance to physiological stress, which is tem-porally correlated with the presence of two proteins, one a small heat shock/a-crystallin protein termed p26 and the other called artemin, of unknown function.Artemin was sequenced previously by Edman degradation, and its rela-tionship to ferritin, an iron storage protein, established. The isolation from anArtemiaexpressed sequence tag library of artemin and ferritin cDNAs extends this work. ...

Circular dichroism (CD) spectra of two major hemoglobin components (Hb), HbI and HbIV, from Oncorhyncus mykiss(formerly Salmo irideus) trout were evaluated in the range 250–600 nm. HbI is characterized by a complete insensitivity to pH changes, while HbIV presents the Root effect. Both reduced [iron(II) or oxy] and oxidized (met) forms of the two proteins were studied at different pHs, 7.8 and 6.0, to obtain information about the pH effects on the structural features of these hemoglobins.

The thermal stability of the eight functional units ofb-hemocyanin of the gastropodan mollusc Helix pomatiawas investigated by FTIR spectros-copy. Molluscan hemocyanin functional units have a molecular mass of approximately 50 kDa and generally contain three disulfide bridges: two in the mainly a-helical N-terminal domain and one in the C-terminal b-sheet domain.

The nuage is a unique organelle in animal germ cells that is known as an electron-dense amorphous structure in the perinuclear region. Although the nuage is essential for primordial germ cell (PGC) determination and devel-opment, its roles and functions are poorly understood.

The EF-hand calcium-binding proteins may exist either in an extended or a compact conformation. This conformation is sometimes correlated with the function of the calcium-binding protein. For those proteins whose structure and function are known, calcium sensors are usually extended and calcium buffers compact; hence, there is interest in predicting the form of the pro-tein starting from its sequence.

Hyperphenylalaninemia (Online Mendelian Inheritance in Mandatabase: 261600) is an autosomal recessive disorder mainly due to mutations in the gene for phenylalanine hydroxylase; the most severe form of hyperphenylal-aninemia is classic phenylketonuria. We sequenced the entire gene for phenylalanine hydroxylase in 51 unrelated hyperphenylalaninemia patients from Southern Italy.

Heparanase is an endo-b-D-glucuronidase capable of cleaving heparan sul-fate side chains at a limited number of sites, yielding heparan sulfate frag-ments of still appreciable size. Importantly, heparanase activity correlates with the metastatic potential of tumor-derived cells, attributed to enhanced cell dissemination as a consequence of heparan sulfate cleavage and remod-eling of the extracellular matrix and basement membrane underlying epithe-lial and endothelial cells.

Several acute lymphoblastic and myelogenous leukemias are correlated with alterations in the human mixed lineage leukemia protein-1 (MLL1) gene. MLL1 is a member of the evolutionarily conserved SET1 family of histone H3 lysine 4 (H3K4) methyltransferases, which are required for the regula-tion of distinct groups of developmentally regulated genes in metazoans.

Arsenic is a strong stimulus of heme oxygenase (HO)-1 expression in experimental studies in response to oxidative stress caused by a stimulus. A functional GT-repeat polymorphism in the HO-1 gene promoter was inversely correlated to the development of coronary artery disease in diabetics and development of restenosis following angioplasty in patients. The role of this potential vascular protective factor in carotid atherosclerosis remains unclear. We previously reported a graded association of arsenic...
