Eloquent ORM đi kèm với Laravel cung cấp một API ActiveRecord đơn giản và tiện lợi cho giao tiếp với database. Mỗi database table sẽ có một "Model" tương ứng để tương tác với table đó. Here we use a model of stochastic birth and death for mapping gene family evolution onto a phylogeny, and show that it can be efficiently applied to multispecies comparisons. The model offers the opportunity for researchers to make stronger inferences regarding the role of natural selection and changing duplication and deletion rates in gene family expansion or contraction. The work is performed as a part of the first author’s MS thesis under the second author’s supervision.

Most (78%) mitochondrial genomes in the studied mutant strain of Drosophila subobscura have undergone a large-scale deletion (5 kb) in the coding region. This mutation is stable, and is transmitted intact to the offspring. This animal model of major rearrangements of mitochondrial genomes can be used to analyse the involvement of the nuclear genome in the production and maintenance of these rearrangements.

The role of the two disulfide bonds (Cys4–Cys60 and Cys18–Cys29) in the activity and stability of goose-type (G-type) lysozyme was investigated using ostrich egg-white lysozyme as a model.
