: Fluid vents in the Sea of Marmara were discovered and investigated by several studies. In this paper, a numerical model is created for the first time to determine the possible transport mechanism behind those fluid emissions at the seafloor. The finite volume method is used for numerical simulations by implementing a commercial finite volume code, ANSYS-Fluent. The thermal and physical rock properties used in our models are taken from previous studies.

The morphotectonic features of the TGFZ and the distribution of the epicenters of earthquakes over magnitude 5.0 show that this fault zone remains active today. In this study, the deformation of the TGFZ is determined with high sensitivity using geodetic measurements. To obtain accurate information about the deformation of the TGFZ, 24 GNSS sites and two continuously operating reference stations were constructed in the southern part of the TGFZ. Between 2018 and 2020, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) measurements were made on this network.

This paper presents an experimental study of adhesive and rheological properties of cement mortars proportioned with various contents of a water-soluble polymer admixture. To determine the adhesive properties the probe tack test was used. The results have been exploited to identify the adhesion strength, the cohesion strength and the support’ adherence force. It is found that the cohesion component displays a minimum when varying the polymer content. The behavior of the adherence force is more complex.

In this paper, a method which intends to provide the motion in every point of the path with possible maximum velocity is described. In fact, the path is divided to transient and cruising parts and the maximum velocities are required only for the latter. The given motion is called “Time-optimal cruising motion”. Using the parametric method of motion planning, the equations for determining the motions are given.

A cDNA sequence fromSchizosaccharomyces pombewith similarity to 6,7-dimethyl-8-ribityllumazine synthase was expressed in a recombinant Escherichia colistrain. The recombinant protein is ahomopentamer of 17-kDa subunits with an apparent molecular mass of 87 kDa as determined by sedimentation equilibriumcentrifugation (it sediments at an apparent velocity of 5.0 S at 20°C). The protein has been crystallized in space group C2221 .

Control analysis of the glycolytic flux was carried out in two fast-growth tumor cell types of human and rodent origin (HeLa and AS-30D, respect-ively). Determination of the maximal velocity (Vmax) of the 10 glycolytic enzymes from hexokinase to lactate dehydrogenase revealed that hexokin-ase (153–306 times) and phosphfructokinase-1 (PFK-1) (22–56 times) had higher over-expression in rat AS-30D hepatoma cells than in normal freshly isolated rat hepatocytes.

The chapter on uniform flow in open channels is basic knowledge required for all hydraulics students. In this chapter, we shall assume the flow to be uniform, unless specified otherwise. This chapter guides students how to determine the rate of discharge, the depth of flow, and the velocity. The slope of the bed and the cross-sectional area remain constant over the given length of the channel under the uniform-flow conditions. The same holds for the computation of the most economical cross section when designing the channel.
