EFL University students in Vietnam

The roles of the teacher and students in online language classes have been a well-researched area, yielding various insights into the potentials of online technologies and the need for a consideration of redefining classroom roles. Drawing on a case study, for particularities, this paper presents the results of an exploratory investigation into the development of classroom roles in an EFL Listening class integrating online technologies at a university.

EFL university teachers' emotions are likely to be influenced by students’ behaviours in the classroom. Thus, practicing emotion regulation is considered to support teachers to achieve their professional objectives and effective teaching. In this case study, the negative emotions associated with classroom teaching experienced by an EFL university lecturer due to students’ behaviors were video recorded.

By the aim to enhance the listening skills of EFL freshmen, an experiment was conducted using cartoons with thirty-five first-year students in an experimental group, compared to a control group, through pre-tests and post-tests. The intervention took place over five weeks during the first semester of the 2022-2023 school year, utilizing ten cartoons as research tools.

This study aims to report on an investigation into Dong Nai University EFL students' beliefs and practices of autonomous learning. The study was carried out for 6 weeks in the first semester of school year 2023-2024 at Dong Nai University, Vietnam. In this study, the efficacy of educational technology tools in enhancing speaking skills was explored through a quasi-experimental design involving 84 IT freshmen. Employing tools such as FORVO (FV), YouGlish (YG), and Oxford Advanced Learners' Dictionary (OALD) 8th edition, the research compared the speaking abilities of students using these technologies (experimental group) against those taught through traditional methods (control group).
