Gamma rays

This work investigates the generation of neutron flux inside lead shielding due to cosmic rays as a function of shielding thickness by use of the GEANT Monte-Carlo modelling code. GEANT allows for the Monte-Carlo modelling of the transport of particles in matter. This includes muons, the particles of interest here, which originate from cosmic ray showers.

An experiment was conducted to study the effectiveness and efficiency of one physical mutagen i.e. gamma rays and two chemical mutagens i.e. ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) and nitrosoguanidine (NG) in greengram. To study the nature and effect of mutagens in greengram, the percentage of lethality, pollen sterility, frequency of chlorophyll mutations, mutagenic effectiveness, mutagenic efficiency and mutation rates of each mutagen were estimated.

An experiment was conducted to generate a broad genetic variability through induced mutation using physical and chemical mutagens. Three doses each of gamma rays (20, 40 and 60kR), ethyl methane sulphonate (0.2, 0.4 and 0.6%), nitrosoguanidine (0.005, 0.010, and 0.015%), maleic hydrazide (0.01, 0.02 and 0.03%) and their combinations were administered to the seed of two greengram varieties, Sujata and OBGG-52.

The ability discrimination of neutrons/gamma-rays of the detector was evaluated by the charge comparison (CC) method using an 252Cf source. The total efficiencies when measured on 22Na, 137Cs, 60Co and 252Cf sources were obtained 17.8%, 3.9%, 9.8% and 14.8%, respectively. The Figure of Merit (FoM) values of CC method were 0.4–1.55 for the range of energy 50–1000 keVee (keV electron equivalent).

Bài viết đánh giá đáp ứng lâm sàng và cận lâm sàng của bệnh nhân u tuyến yên được điều trị bằng Gamma knife tại Bệnh viện Chợ Rẫy. Đối tượng và phương pháp: nghiên cứu can thiệp lâm sàng không đối chứng trên 81 bệnh nhân với chẩn đoán xác định u tuyến tuyến yên tái phát hoặc không phẫu thuật được tại đơn vị Gamma Knife, Bệnh viện Chợ Rẫy từ 01 - 2012 đến 12 - 2016. Kết quả: 23 bệnh nhân u tăng nội tiết tố và 58 bệnh nhân u không tăng nội tiết tố. Tuổi trung bình 43,35 ± 11,98, nhỏ nhất 18 tuổi, lớn nhất 73 tuổi. Thể tích u tuyến yên trung bình 5.553,73 ± 2.991,15 ml.

Three plastic scintillators of 4.5 cm diameter and 2.5-cm length were fabricated for comparison with commercial plastic scintillators using polymerization of the styrene monomer 2.5-diphenyloxazole (PPO) and 1,4-bis benzene (POPOP). Their maximum emission wavelengths were determined at 426.06 nm, 426.06 nm, and 425.00 nm with a standard error of 0.2% using a Varian spectrophotometer (Agilent, Santa Clara, CA, USA).

In this study, an improved algorithm for n/g discrimination using a parameter, which is the ratio of the rise time to the pulse height, is proposed. The n/g discrimination performance of the algorithm is evaluated by applying it to 252Cf neutron signal separation from various gamma-ray exposure rate levels ranging 0.1e5 R/h. The performance is compared to that of the conventional pulse-height analysis method in terms of the gamma elimination ratio.

Giống lúa N25 có đặc điểm tốt như: Thời gian sinh trưởng ngắn (90 ngày trong mùa hè), năng suất cao (6,2-6,7 tấn/ha trong mùa xuân; 5,5-6,3 tấn/ha trong mùa hè), chất lượng gạo tốt (hàm lượng amylose 17,2%). Giống lúa N25 kháng vừa với bệnh đạo ôn (điểm 3) và một số sâu bệnh khác như bệnh bạc lá, rầy nâu.
