This paper is dedicated to the study of geometrically nonlinear behaviour of variable thickness functionallygraded plates subjected to uniaxial compressive forces. The plate’s geometry in this study could have either uniform thickness or symmetrical parabolic-form thickness.

In this work, we employ Moiré lattices generated in a high-order nonlinear material to investigate the existence of topological solitons under diverse geometries, which are controlled by the twisting angle of sublattices. The formation of solitons in both commensurate and incommensurate Moiré lattice configurations allows us to explore deeper into the impact of geometric transitions on soliton stability and localization.

Given a compact four dimensional manifold, we prove existence of conformal metrics with constant Q-curvature under generic assumptions. The problem amounts to solving a fourth-order nonlinear elliptic equation with variational structure. Since the corresponding Euler functional is in general unbounded from above and from below, we employ topological methods and min-max schemes, jointly with the compactness result of [35]. 1.
