The incidence of eating disorders in dancers represents a complex health issue. Traditional research frameworks have failed to sufficiently elucidate this matter. Emerging theories on the gut-brain axis provide a potentially transformative perspective for understanding these disorders in dancers. Purpose: This review aims to explore the factors influencing eating disorders in dancers and to propose novel intervention strategies that integrate gut-brain axis theory with established multidimensional approaches.

In the design and calculation of stormwater drainage systems, the design rainfall intensity plays a crucial role and is widely used in runoff calculations. Due to the influence of local climatic factors, the selection of probability distributions for rainfall frequency analysis and the methods used to determine parameters for empirical equations result in a variety of equations compared to traditional Rainfall Intensity-Duration-Frequency curves.

The focus of this research is to identify the important steps and considerations that influence Australian fund manager’s property allocation decisions, and to suggest ways to improve institutional allocation decisions towards property investments, which traditionally offers stable, income focused returns. This is important for funding the retirement of Australia’s growing and aging population, and to combat the continued effects of the recent Global Financial Crisis on the equities and bond markets.

Heat shock transcription factors (HSFs) are characterized by their ability, upon activation, to bind to heat shock response elements (HSE) present in the promoter of their target genes. HSE are composed of inverted repeats of the pentamer nGAAm. In this study, we compare the embryonic HSF2 protein, purified from F9 embryonal carcinoma cells tumor, and thein vitro synthesized HSF2. We show that the context of HSF2 synthesis influences its thermosensitivity and DNA-binding properties.

Glycosylatedpolyenemacrolide antibiotics, as nystatins and amphotericins, are amphiphilic structures known to exert antifungal activity by disrupting the fungal cell membrane, leading to leakage of cellular materials, and cell death. This membrane disruption is strongly influenced by the presence and the exact nature of the membrane sterols.

The thermal unfoldingofmyosinsubfragment 1 (S1) cleaved by trypsin was studied by differential scanning calorimetry. In the absence of nucleotides, trypsin splits the S1 heavy chain into three fragments (25, 50, and 20 kDa). This cleavage has no appreciable influence on the thermal unfolding of S1 examined in the presence of ADP, in the ternary complexes of S1 with ADP and phosphate analogs, such as orthovanadate (Vi) or berylliumfluoride (BeFx), and in the presence of F-actin.

The beneficial influence of dietary curcumin, capsaicin and their combina-tion on the susceptibility of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) to oxidation was examined in an animal study. Individually, both dietary curcumin and capsaicin significantly inhibited thein vivo iron-induced LDL oxidation, as well as copper-induced oxidation of LDLin vitro. The protective effect of the combination of curcumin and capsaicin on LDL oxidation was greater than that of individual compounds.

Plant lipoxygenases (LOXs) are a class of dioxygenases which display diverse functions in several physiological processes such as growth, development and response to biotic and abiotic stresses.Even though LOXs have been characterized from several plant species, the physiological role of seed LOXs is still unclear. With the aim to better clarify the occurrence of LOXs and their influence on hazelnut seed quality, we carried out the biochemical and molecular characterization of the main LOX isoforms expressed during seed development....

Although alkaline phosphatase (APase) fromEscherichia colicrystallizes as a symmetric dimer, it displays deviations from Michaelis–Menten kinetics, supported by a model describing a dimeric enzyme with unequal subunits [Orha-novic´ S., Pavela-Vrancˇicˇ M. and Flogel-Mrsˇic´ M. (1994) Acta. Pharm.44, 87–95]. The possibility, that the observed asymmetry could be attributed to negative cooperativity in Mg2+ binding, has been examined. The influence of the metal ion content on the catalytic properties of APase from E. colihas been examined by kinetic analyses. ...

cAMP receptor protein (CRP), allosterically activated by cAMP, regulates the expression of several genes inEscheri-chia coli. As binding of cAMP leads to undefined conform-ational changes in CRP, we performed a steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence study to showhow the binding of the ligand influences the structure and dynamics of the protein. We used CRP mutants containing a single trypto-phan residue at position 85 or 13, and fluorescently labeled with 1,5-I-AEDANS attached toCys178.

The influence of temperature on cytochromec oxidase (CCO) catalytic activity was studied in the temperature range 240–308 K. Temperatures below 273 K required the inclusion of the osmolyte ethylene glycol. For steady-state activity between 278 and 308 K the activation energy was 12 kcalÆmol )1 ; the molecular activity or turnover number was 12 s )1 at 280K in the absence of ethylene glycol. CCO activity was studied between 240and 277 K in the presence of ethylene glycol.

Bone alkaline phosphatase with glycolipid anchor (GPI-bALP) from chick embryo femurs in a medium without exogenous inorganic phosphate, but containing calcium and GPI-bALP substrates, served asin vitro model of min-eral formation. The mineralization process was initiated by the formation of inorganic phosphate, arising from the hydrolysis of a substrate by GPI-bALP. Several minerali-zation media containing different substrates were analysed after an incubation time ranging from 1.5 h to 144 h.

Studies on horseradish peroxidase C and other haem peroxidases have been carried out on selected mutants in the distal haem cavity providing insight into the functional importance of the distal residues. Recent work has dem-onstrated that proximal structural features can also exert an important influence in determining the electronic structure of the haem pocket.

The abundance and size of cellular organelles vary depending on the cell type and metabolic needs. Peroxisomes constitute a class of cellular organ-elles renowned for their ability to adapt to cellular and environmental conditions. Together with transcriptional regulators, two groups of per-oxisomal proteins have a pronounced influence on peroxisome size and abundance.
