The study analyzes images that have been cultivated by ancient cultural memories to become Korean cultural symbols, such as the model of women, the space containing the sediments of the times, and the way of life in daily activities and beliefs as a model of practice. Through that, the research wants to clarify the two major functions of these cultural symbols: shaping the national cultural identity and becoming a measure of valuation for contemporary perceptions of human dignity.

This paper shows that Sino-Vietnamese morphemes combine not only with other Sino-Vietnamese morphemes but also with non-Sino-Vietnamese morphemes, such as native Vietnamese and even Indo-European elements, particularly French loanwords. This phenomenon is not unique to Vietnamese: similar hybrid words can also be found in other Sino-xenic languages (Japanese and Korean) as well as Indo-European languages.

The findings have indicated that script, music, cultural images have a correlation with Vietnamese viewers’ satisfaction with Korean dramas while actors do not affect the overall satisfaction. Based on the findings,the authors provide implications and offer suggestions to Vietnamese filmmakers on improving customer satisfaction, thereby contributing to the development of TV drama production in Vietnam.

This study explores the sociolinguistic practices of overseas Vietnamese fans of Korean dramas (Kdramas) through their interactions on an online blog. Utilizing an online ethnography approach, the author collected qualitative data from blog posts and interactions. The findings reveal that K-drama fans develop a unique vernacular, often incorporating code-mixing, which may be incomprehensible to non-fans.
