In this research, House's (1977) Translation Quality Assessment Model was applied to evaluate the Vietnamese translation of the novel "The Thorn Birds" by Trung Dung (2015), focusing on two dimensions: Dimensions of Language Use and Dimensions of Language User. This study illustrates steps in evaluating Trung Dung’s Vietnamese translation of “The Thorn Birds”, providing examples of mismatches and errors in comparing the source text and the target text.

This study investigates the quality of an English listening comprehension test administered to third-year students at a Vietnamese public university. The research uses SPSS statistical software to evaluate the test through descriptive statistics, reliability, and construct validity analyses. Writing is considered an important skill. For second-year students majoring in English at Nam Can Tho University, writing essays in English is a mandatory subject. However, in the process of writing essays, students encounter many difficulties. To find out the difficulties and find solutions, 28 questions designed on a Likert scale were used for analysis with the participation of 100 second-year students and 100 senior students majoring in English language for comparison.

This study utilized a quantitative approach with a survey questionnaire. The questionnaire, which was modified from the Basic Psychological Need Satisfaction and Frustration Scale (BPNSNF) by Van Der Kaap-Deeder et al. (2015), included 4 questions for providing informed consent before conducting the research together with collecting participants’ personal information, and 8 five-point Likert items. It was then distributed to university students in Ho Chi Minh City who had used Padlet in their English classes, with convenience sampling employed for data collection.
