Patients undergoing major orthopedic surgery (MOS) are at the highest risk of developing postoperative venous thromboembolism (VTE) complications. Despite widespread recommendations for routine VTE prophylaxis, multiple publications have indicated that discrepancies between practice and guidelines persist.
