Research objective: The thesis is devoted to extend some results on the existence of fixed points in metric spaces to spaces with uniform structure. We also considered the existence of solutions of some classes of integral equations with unbounded deviation, which we can not apply fixed point theorems in metric spaces. The thesis can be a reference for under graduated students, master students and Ph.D students in analysis major in general, and the fixed point theory and applications in particular.

Mammalian alcohol dehydrogenases (ADH) 3 form a com-plex enzyme system based on amino-acid sequence, func-tional properties, and gene expression pattern. At least four mouseAdhgenes are known to encode di€erent enzyme classes that share less than 60% amino-acid sequence iden-tity. Two ADH-containing and overlapping C57BL/6 bacterial arti®cial chromosome clones, RP23-393J8 and -463H24, were identi®ed in a library screen, physically mapped, and sequenced.

The leptin receptor (LEPR) is a class I cytokine receptor signalling via both the janus kinase⁄signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK⁄STAT) and the MAP kinase pathways. Bowen’s formula relates the Hausdorff dimension of a conformal repeller to the zero of a ‘pressure’ function. We present an elementary, self-contained proof to show that Bowen’s formula holds for C 1 conformal repellers. We consider time-dependent conformal repellers obtained as invariant subsets for sequences of conformally expanding maps within a suitable class.

For an -adic sheaf on a variety of arbitrary dimension over a perfect field, we define the Swan class measuring the wild ramification as a 0-cycle class supported on the ramification locus. We prove a Lefschetz trace formula for open varieties and a generalization of the Grothendieck-Ogg-Shararevich formula using the Swan class. We study the large scale geometry of the mapping class group, MCG(S). Our main result is that for any asymptotic cone of MCG(S), the maximal dimension of locally compact subsets coincides with the maximal rank of free abelian subgroups of MCG(S). An application is a proof of Brock-Farb’s Rank Conjecture which asserts that MCG(S) has quasi-flats of dimension N if and only if it has a rank N free abelian subgroup. (Hamenstadt has also given a proof of this conjecture, using different methods.

This paper is about a class of strange attractors that have the dual property of occurring naturally and being amenable to analysis. Roughly speaking, a rank one attractor is an attractor that has some instability in one direction and strong contraction in m−1 directions, m here being the dimension of the phase space. We prove that the sequence of projective quantum SU(n) representations of the mapping class group of a closed oriented surface, obtained from the projective flat SU(n)-Verlinde bundles over Teichm¨ller space, is asymptotically u faithful. That is, the intersection over all levels of the kernels of these representations is trivial, whenever the genus is at least 3. For the genus 2 case, this intersection is exactly the order 2 subgroup, generated by the hyper-elliptic involution, in the case of even degree and n = 2. A well-known open question is whether every countable collection of Lipschitz functions on a Banach space X with separable dual has a common point of Fr´chet differentiability. We show that the answer is positive for e some infinite-dimensional X. Previously, even for collections consisting of two functions this has been known for finite-dimensional X only (although for one function the answer is known to be affirmative in full generality).
