This study focuses on the biological characteristics of the genetic resources of the Stephania brachyandra in Thai Nguyen, one of Vietnam's valuable medicinal plants currently at risk of extinction. Investigation results indicate that Stephania brachyandra is commonly found at an average density of 32.57 plants per square kilometer, with distribution density varying across districts, being highest in Vo Nhai district and lowest in Phu Luong district.

Pyruvate decarboxylase (EC 4.1.1.1) was isolated and purified from the yeast Kluyveromyces lactis. The properties of this enzyme relating to the native oligomeric state, the subunit size, the nucleotide sequence of the coding gene(s), the catalytic activity, and protein fluorescence as well as circular dichroism are very similar to those of the well characterized pyruvate decarboxylase species from yeast.

Penaeidins are a family of antimicrobial peptides constitutively produced and stored in the haemocytes of penaeid shrimp. In response to microbial stimulation, they are released into the blood circulation and they further attach to shrimp cuticle surfaces through a chitin-binding property.
