Modular system design

Organisms subject to changing environmental conditions or experimental protocols show complex patterns of responses. The design principles behind these patterns are still poorly understood. Here, modular metabolic control analysis is developed to deal with large changes in branched pathways.

Architecture is those attributes visible to the programmer: Instruction set, number of bits used for data representation, I/O mechanisms, addressing techniques. e.g. Is there a multiply instruction? Organization is how features are implemented Control signals, interfaces, memory technology. e.g. Is there a hardware multiply unit or is it done by repeated addition?

Windows CE .NET is highly modular in its design so that footprint size can be customized to meet the specific product requirements of a range of devices. Only those modules required by the nature of the device need be included in the operating system image. An original equipment manufacturers (OEM) can further customize an operating system by selecting from a subset of available components for a particular module.
