Nerve conduction study

To evaluate the prognosis value of facial nerve conduction study in Bell’s palsy outcome. Subjects and methods: A descriptive and cross-sectional study using electro diagnostic data and medical chart review on 29 patients diagnosed with Bell’s palsy in Department of Neurology, Military Hospital 103 from January 2017 to December 2017, were evaluated using the facial nerve grading system 2.0 (FNGS) during their initial visit and on day 20 and day 40. We performed facial nerve conduction studies (NCS) in the first 5 days and on the 20th day.

Superior Sulcus or Pancoast Tumors Non-small cell carcinomas of the superior pulmonary sulcus producing Pancoast's syndrome appear to behave differently than lung cancers at other sites and are usually treated with combined radiotherapy and surgery. Patients with these carcinomas should have the usual preoperative staging procedures, including mediastinoscopy and CT and PET scans, to determine tumor extent and a neurologic examination (and sometimes nerve conduction studies) to document involvement or impingement of nerves in the region.

Acute Monoparesis If the weakness is predominantly in distal and nonantigravity muscles and not associated with sensory impairment or pain, focal cortical ischemia is likely (Chap. 364); diagnostic possibilities are similar to those for acute hemiparesis. Sensory loss and pain usually accompany acute lower motor neuron weakness; the weakness is commonly localized to a single nerve root or peripheral nerve within the limb but occasionally reflects plexus involvement.
