Physical consolidation

Consolidation of applications in cloud computing environments presents a significant opportunity for energy optimization. As a first step toward enabling energy efficient consolidation, we study the inter-relationships between energy consumption, resource utilization, and performance of consolidated workloads. The study reveals the energy performance trade-offs for consolidation and shows that optimal operating points exist. We model the consolidation problem as a modified bin packing problem and illustrate it with an example.

The project uses a dual approach which focuses on both the physical / scientific dimension of aquaculture and the educational / training dimension of aquaculture extension program development. This dual approach enables the improvement of aquaculture practises resulting from Dimension 1 to be consolidated and disseminated more broadly through provincial aquaculture communities per medium of the activities of Dimension 2. Physical Findings Patients with pneumococcal pneumonia usually appear ill and have a grayish, anxious appearance that differs from that of persons with viral or mycoplasmal pneumonia. Temperature, pulse, and respiratory rate are typically elevated. Elderly patients may have only a slight temperature elevation or may be afebrile. Hypothermia may be documented instead of fever and is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Pleuritic chest pain may cause diminished respiratory excursion (splinting) on the affected side.

Physical Examination The general physical examination in a delirious patient should include a careful screening for signs of infection such as fever, tachypnea, pulmonary consolidation, heart murmur, or stiff neck. The patient's fluid status should be assessed; both dehydration and fluid overload with resultant hypoxia have been associated with delirium, and each is usually easily rectified. The appearance of the skin can be helpful, showing jaundice in hepatic encephalopathy, cyanosis in hypoxia, or needle tracks in patients using intravenous drugs.
