Flavonoids, a diverse group of secondary metabolites, are known for their health-promoting properties, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer activities. Phyllanthus amarus is a medicinal plant with extensive traditional use and it is a rich source of flavonoids. This study aimed to elucidate the gene expression in flavonoid biosynthesis in P. amarus.

Alternative strategies are needed in pest management to protect crops from pests. Occurrence of epiphytic lactic acid bacteria (LAB) on crop plants, especially on sites that are selected by pests, may be associated with host selection by insects. We carried out laboratory investigations as well as screen house and field experiments to understand whether epiphytic LAB occur at oviposition sites of agricultural and horticultural crops, probably modulating pest abundance by attraction or repulsion. The diversity of such epiphytic LAB associated with insect oviposition sites is discussed.

Casein kinases I (CKI) are serine/threonine protein kinases widely expressed in a range of eukaryotes including yeast, mammals and plants. They have been shown to play a role in diverse physiological events including membrane trafficking. CKIa is associated with synaptic vesicles and phosphorylates some synaptic vesicle associated proteins including SV2. In this report, we show that syntaxin-1A is phosphorylated in vitro by CKI on Thr21.
