The projection, also called the symmetrization mapping, from spectral ball to symmetrized polydisc is closely related to the spectral Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation problem. We prove that the rank of the derivative of the projection from the spectral unit ball to the symmetrized polydisc is equal to the degree of the minimal polynomial of the matrix at which we take the derivative.

The score function is used to compare intutionistic fuzzy numbers. In this paper, a novel score function of intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs) is investigated. The novel score function was constructed by combining the polynomial and exponential functions working on the degree of membership and degree of non-membership of intuitionistic fuzzy sets.

Model Predictive Control (MPC) refers to a class of algorithms that optimize the future behavior of the plant subject to operational constraints. The merits of the class algorithms include its ability to handle imposed hard constraints on the system and perform on-line optimization. This thesis investigates design and implementation of continuous time model predictive control using Laguerre polynomials and extends the design approaches proposed in to include intermittent predictive control, as well as to include the case of the nonlinear predictive control.

In this paper, we present a novel global protein-protein interaction network alignment algorithm, which is enhanced with an extended large neighborhood search heuristics. Evaluated on benchmark datasets of yeast, fly, human and worm, the proposed algorithm outperforms state-of-the-art algorithms. Furthermore, the complexity of ours is polynomial, thus being scalable to large biological networks in practice.

The main results and new points of this thesis are: The effective emissivity of the diffuse and isothermal cylindrical - inner - cone cavity has been calculated using the polynomial interpolation technique for the angle factor integrals describing the radiation exchange inside the cavity. The interpolation - calculated results are approximately accurate in comparison with those obtained by the analytical methods. This approach is a rather new in the practice of cavity effective emissivity calculation.
