Proposed strategy map

This thesis explores the intersection between cartography and strategic thinking utilising a Strategy-As-Practice lens. Maps have long been used to (re)present our world and they form an epistemology of knowing. Mapping practices, whilst widely adopted, are still contested spaces. Although we know what maps are, we know less about how they work. This research identifies eleven elements of maps and proposes that they can be arranged in an epistemic technology as a mechanism for managers to explore their strategic thinking.

The article brings out a proposed strategy map and respective key performance indicators (KPIs) in human resources (HR). The article provides an overview of how HR activities are supported in order to reach the partial goals of HR as defined in the strategic map.

A Self-Organizing Map (SOM) has good quality when both of its measures, quantization error (QE) and topographic error (TE), are small. Many researchers have tried to reduce these measures by improving SOM’s learning algorithm, however, most results only decrease either QE or TE. In this paper, a method to improve the quality of the map obtained when the SOM’s learning algorithm ended is proposed.

This project report is an analysis of the current situation, needs, and potential medium-and long-term strategies to develop agricultural research and extension in Viet Nam. The report provides a long-term road map for agriculture research and extension assistanceand it will be used as a basis for the development of a forthcoming ADB technical assistance, which will in turn be used as a basis for a proposed investment loan in Agricultural Science and Technology.
