Self-healing vulcanized natural rubber (V-NR) was prepared with MgO/ZnO as a binary activator system in the study. Standard Vietnam Rubber Grade 3L (SVR3L) was used as NR source. The SVR3L was vulcanized with ZnO, MgO/ZnO, or MgO as activators and other vulcanizing reagents.

Silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were synthesized and characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and absorption spectroscopy. Using Debye-Scherrer’s formula and the result of the XRD spectrum, the size of the Ag NPs was estimated at approximately 8 nm.

In this paper, ZnO/CuO/Ag ternary composites were successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method using Zn(NO3)2.6H2O, Cu(NO3)2.3H2O and AgNO3. The composite samples were characterized using X-Ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Raman spectroscopy.

In this study, we explored the efficacy of Raman spectroscopy in differentiating authentic ST25 rice-a premium variety of Vietnam from other rice types, amidst concerns of adulteration.

Resonance Raman spectroscopy has been used to observe changes in the iron–ligand stretching frequency in photo-product spectra of the proximal cavitymutant ofmyoglobin H93G. The measurements compare the deoxy ferrous state of the heme iron in H93G(L), where L is an exogenous imidazole ligand bound in the proximal cavity, to the pho-tolyzed intermediate of H93G(L)*CO at 8 ns.

Thebform of human cAMP-dependent protein kinase inhibitor (human PKIb), a novel heat-stable protein, was isolated with high yield using a bacterial expression system. Assays of PKI activity demonstrated that purified PKIb inhibits the catalytic subunit of cAMP-dependent protein kinase. FTIR, Raman spectroscopy and CD experiments implied that human PKIbcontained only small amounts of a-helix andb-structures, but large amounts of random coil and turn structures, which may explain its high thermosta-bility.

We used generalized two-dimensional NMR–NMR correlation to examine the effect of potassium ions on the conformation transition in silk fibroin to investigate the possibility that the fairly high K + ion content found in the distal end of silk-secreting ducts in the silkworms could have a bearing on natural formation of the silk fiber.

The multicopper oxidase from the hyperthermophilic archaeonPyrobacu-lum aerophilum (McoP) was overproduced in Escherichia coliand purified to homogeneity. The enzyme consists of a single 49.6 kDa subunit, and the combined results of UV–visible, CD, EPR and resonance Raman spectroscopies showed the characteristic features of the multicopper oxidases. Analysis of the McoP sequence allowed its structure to be derived by comparative modeling methods.
