The study indicates efficiency of antibiotics: Amoxicillin (AMX) and ciprofloxacin (CIP) removal in hospital wastewater using H2O2/S2O8 2- /ZVI process. Application of Box – Behnken design was to determine the experiment's effects on COD removal. Effect of pH, H2O2, S2O8 2- , ZVI and reaction time as independent variables in batch oxidation experiments, namely quadratic response.

One of the easiest and efficient way of water conservation to solve drinking water scarcity is rooftop water harvesting. To evaluate the performance of the first flush with micromesh filter system, inflow and outflow of the rooftop water samples were analysed for pH, EC, TDS, SAL and TSS parameters. In general, the PH, electrical conductivity, and TDS of the roof water samples were within the drinking water standards and the first flush with micromesh filter system was found to reduce TDS values.

Spontaneous oxidation of 3-hydroxykynureine (3-HK), a metabolic inter-mediate of the tryptophan degradation pathway, elicits a remarkable oxida-tive stress response in animal tissues. In the yellow fever mosquito Aedes aegyptithe excess of this toxic metabolic intermediate is efficiently removed by a specific 3-HK transaminase, which converts 3-HK into the more sta-ble compound xanthurenic acid.

The properties of theD6 desaturase/acetylenase from the mossCeratodon purpureusand theD12 acetylenase from the dicotCrepis alpinawere studied by expressing the encoding genes inArabidopsis thalianaandSaccharomyces cerevisiae. The acetylenase fromC. alpinaD12 desaturated both oleate and linoleate with about equal efficiency. The desaturation of oleate gave rise to 9(Z),12(E)- and 9(Z),12(Z)-octadeca-dienoates in a ratio of approximately 3 : 1.

Recent studies on type II thioesterases (TEIIs) involved in microbial secondary metabolism described a role for these enzymes in the removal of short acyl-S- phosphopantetheine intermediates from misprimed holo-(acyl carrier proteins) and holo-(peptidyl carrier proteins) of polyketide synthases and nonribosomal peptide synthetases.

Human 8-oxoguanine-DNA glycosylase (OGG1) efficiently removes muta-genic 8-oxo-7,8-dihydroguanine (8-oxoGua) and 2,6-diamino-4-hydroxy-5-formamidopyrimidine when paired with cytosine in oxidatively damaged DNA. Excision of 8-oxoGua mispaired with adenine may lead to GfiT transversions.
