Rhizobia topic has been re-focused in recent years because of new findings on their traits not only as nitrogen-fixing bacteria but also as plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria. When combing rhizobial strains with novel biological carriers (e.g., biochar) for inoculant production, it brings great potential for improving soil health in long-term.

As the urban area has high population density and intensive anthropogenic activities, there are a great number of sources of heavy metals in cities, placing a considerable influence on human health. Emissions of heavy metals may come from domestic waste, chemical industry and transportation. These emissions have been continuously adding heavy metals to soils and they will remain present for many years even after the pollution sources have been removed.

Conventional farming methods have significantly increased yields but in recent times due to the increased awareness of people about health, there has been increasing demand of organically grown foods. Organic farming helps in maintaining soil health and thereby produce healthy and quality food materials. This concern has prompted an expanding enthusiasm for organic farming methods since they may diminish a portion of the negative impacts of conventional farming on the earth.

Due to the high toxicity of arsenic and the poison effects to human being, identification and quantification of individual arsenic forms are important to appropriately measure the arsenic toxicity, environmental impact and health risk related to arsenic exposure. Arsenic species were quantified by HPLC-UV-HG-AAS. The separation was performed on an anion exchange Hamilton PRP-X100 (250 mm× 4,1 mm i.d.× 10 µm) column by using mobile phase A: 12 mmol/l KH2PO4- K2HPO4; pH = 6.5 and B: 24 mmol/l KH2PO4-K2HPO4; pH = 6.

This paper identifies five water environmental problems in the Delta that are the principal limiting factors of agricultural production and human health, i.e. (i) the salinity intrusion in the coastal areas, (ii) the effect of acid sulfate soils, (iii) the polluted water from human activities, (iv) the fresh water shortage in the dry season and (v) the flood in the rainy season. The discussion and conclusion present the people’s adaption strategies and water gorvernance issues in pursing sustainable management in the region.......
