This research has raised the question of whether the vibration transmission at a wall junction depends on how the wall is excited (by either a sound wave or a mechanical shaker). The aim of this research is to investigate this question and hence contribute to the revision of the series of standards. Villot and Guigou-Carter (2000) have considered this problem but their equations (10) and (13) appear to be in error. This research will endeavour to derive the correct equations and r epeat Villot and Guigou Carter’s calculations.

This research project investigates the relationship between music composition, particularly electronic pop, and sound design (the editing/mixing of sound for cinema), with its main focus on Multi-channel (Surround Sound) techniques. It proposes new practices that extend music compositional tools into embracing spatial techniques employed by sound design. My research encompasses both the conceptual development (ie spatial techniques in creating narratives) and the practical issues relating to the production and technology needed for such works.

Master's thesis of Design: Listening for design: urban sonic experience and the sonic identity model
In the last 10 years interest and activity in urban sonic design has expanded. The way we listen to, think about and understand sound determines the way we value, manage and design with it. However practitioners in the area would benefit from detailed forms of site documentation and analysis that go beyond physical sound measurement. This Masters explores the use of the Sonic Identity Model developed by Pascal Amphoux of CRESSON (the Centre for Research on Sonic Space and Urban Environment) in the early stages of urban sonic design.

This research examines how parametric loudspeakers may be considered unique acousmatic musical instruments; how the parametric acoustic array (PAA) can potentially make new forms of music and listening experiences; and how PAA-design problems can be overcome. Interdisciplinary in nature, the study uses grounded theory and experimental music practice within a design research methodology. Theory emerges from data, in concert with analysis and framing that draws on areas such as electroacoustic music, spatial composition, acoustics, PAA science/theory, modulation theory, and medium theory.

Classical music is difficult (2) It means different things to different people. Some (3) classical composers were Bach, Vivaldi, Haydn, and Mozart. In their music, they did not (4) a story or show strong emotion. They wanted to make a beautiful, interesting design. They wanted to write lovely sounds

Concept of User Interface The user interface is the part of the system that you see, hear and feel (look and feel) Other parts of the system are hidden to you, for instance the database where information is stored. Although users don’t see the hidden parts, they imagine to some extent what is going on ’behind the screen’. Examples When you use a computer, you give it orders, usually by means of the mouse and the keyboard. The computer replies, usually by showing something on the screen or making sounds.

The term “design patterns” sounds a bit formal to the uninitiated and can be somewhat off-putting when you first encounter it. But, in fact, design patterns are just convenient ways of reusing object-oriented code between projects and between programmers. The idea behind design patterns is simple-- write down and catalog common interactions between objects that programmers have frequently found useful.
