Stakeholder participation

This changing external environment is the context for this 'practitioner research' investigative project - the development of a motorsports program as a case study of innovation and entrepreneurship at Wodonga Institute of TAFE. A participant-observer research approach was applied to examine the perceptions of the stakeholders about the development of the program. Data was collected through semi-formal interviews with stakeholders, maintaining a reflective research journal and reviewing related literature.

This research sought to uncover the circumstances in which stakeholder interaction around the various perspectives on problem gambling might lead to a socially responsible approach to the management of poker machine gambling in clubs. The study’s methodology adapted a learning history framework of participative action research, and recruited stakeholders to act as “co-researchers” in a transparent-research approach to the exploration of the research question.

The research reported here addresses the question of what is required to engage stakeholders to create effective change. It is a case study of one organisation, Melbourne Water, which is located in Victoria, Australia. The research is undertaken using a qualitative, action research framework and a systems psychodynamic perspective. Volunteer participants participated in one-on-one interviews and focus groups. The data is also generated through organisational observations and reflection utilising the methods of supervision and journaling.

The University of Queensland, together with its Vietnamese partner institutions, propose a CARD project to enhance the teaching and research capacity of staff in the three institutions. This will be achieved through a project targeting agroforestry systems for livestock feeding in the northern provinces of Vietnam. The project will focus on the use of adapted multipurpose trees in small holder farming and livestock feeding systems.
