Synthesis and characterization

Nano-hydroxyapatite/starch composite was synthesized using in situ precipitation. Starch concentration effect on the structure of composite was examined. Characterization of the obtained samples, The X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy demonstrated the purity of the formed nano-HA in the starch matrix. Morphology studies of the samples, checked by field emission scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope, show the effects of starch on the size, shape, and morphology of hydroxyapatite nanoparticles.

In recent times many research activities have been carried out to prove the metal ion detection ability of Schiff bases. [13,14] In the present study, a new Schiff base has been synthesized from 5-bromo-2- hydroxybenzaldehyde and naphthalene-1,8-diamine and it is complexated with Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions. The biological application of all the compounds has been analyzed and metal ions recognition property of the Schiff base has also been studied.

The present study focuses on the preparation of silver/copper bimetallic hybrid nanoparticles by green method from precursor solutions of silver nitrate & copper nitrate and the locally available citrus fruit (lemon) peel extract which behaves as the stabilizing and reducing agent. Initially, the formation of hybrid nanoparticles was noticed in the reaction mixture by colour change.

The results show that the cerium oxide spherical nanoparticles built from primary nanoparticles with the average size of ~5 nm, exhibited dispersion and uniform size and shapes with their average particle diameter of ~50 nm in size. With such a good morphology, CeO2 material possessed good catalytic activity for the decomposition of methylene blue (MB), in which the material was synthesized at a hydrothermal temperature of 80 oC (CeO2-80) for the best MB decomposition performance.

In this study, Fe50Pd50 nanoparticles with small size of around 5-9 nm were prepared by sonoelectrodeposition in the presence of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) surfactant. The as-prepared nanoparticles were annealed at 550oC for a series of times from 1 h to 6 h.

The synthesis and structures of yttrium(III) complexes containing 2- naphthoyltrifluoroacetone (HTFNB); benzoyltrifluoroacetone (HTFPB) and N,N-dimethylN’-(9-methylanthracenyl)ethylenediamine (AnMe2) ligand are reported. The complexes have been characterized by IR, 1H NMR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The crystal structure of Y(TFNB)3AnMe2 (C3) and Y(TFPB)3AnMe2 (C4) were determined. X-ray crystallographic analysis demonstrates that in the mononuclear complex C3, C4, the Y3+ ion was coordinated by three TFNB/TFPB ligands and one ancillary ligand AnMe2.

Pentyl 2-(1H-indole-2-carboxamido)benzoate (5) is obtained in good yield as stable crystals by reaction of pentyl 2-amino benzoate (6) with indole-2-carbonyl chloride acid (7) in the presence of pyridine. The crystal structure of 5 confirms the presence of intramolecular hydrogen bonding (N-H…O) which produces a six-membered ring, and the molecules are linked together by intermolecular hydrogen forces (N-H…O).
