To optimally extract the potential phytochemical “6-shogaol” from fermented shogaol-enriched ginger. Methods: Extraction process parameters were investigated using 6-shogaol as a marker. Results: The suitable parameters of the 6-shogaol extraction process: Hot extraction using reflux equipment, solvent of 90% ethanol, solvent/herb ratio of 15/1, temperature of 70ºC, duration of 90 minutes, and two-time extraction.

The auxiliary parts of the impact test hammer are only suitable for certain cases. The impact velocity of other cases are determined by measuring. Instead of measuring multiple times, the hammer velocity calculating method and program is suggested by this article for general cases and the input parameters will be changed for the other cases. The calculation results are verified by using a high speed camera to measure the hammer velocity.

Doctoral thesis of Philosophy: Modelling of inhomogeneous magnetic fields in electromagnetic devices
This thesis derives closed form equations to describe electromagnetic device characteristics for a toroid, solenoid and a case study induction machine. By considering stored magnetic field energy, this approach allows the relationship between electrical, magnetic and kinetic energy to be quantified and analyzed in ways that allows improved accuracy compared with conventional magnetic circuit modeling methods. This thesis also provides insights into how geometric parameters impact energy transfer and operational characteristics of electromagnetic devices.
