In this study, the deflection and stress field of perfect and imperfect (with and without porosities) functionally graded (FG) cylindrical panels are determined following the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT). The panel rested on the twoparameter elastic foundation (Pasternak foundation) under pressure loads and worked in a hygro-thermal environment.

The article discusses the strength of concrete and other brittle materials in the case of nonuniform biaxial type of compression (σ1 > σ2 > 0) and triaxial compression of σ1 > σ2 = σ3 > 0 type (it was assumed that σ> 0 corresponds to compression). I

This study focus on the behaviour and quantify initial physical properties of RCC, from the beginning of hydration to designated characteristic of RCC, in order to define the thermal evolution, thermal stresses. By doing this, the appropriate speed of construction can be established when building RCC dam project.

Trehalose metabolism is an essential component of the stress response in yeast cells. In this work we show that the products of the principal genes involved in trehalose metabolism in Schizosaccharomyces pombe, tps1+ (coding for trehalose6-P synthase, Tps1p), ntp1+ (encoding neutral trehalase, Ntp1p) and tpp1+ (that codes for trehalose-6-P phosphatase, Tpp1p), interact in vitro with each other and with themselves to form protein complexes. Disruption of the gene tps1+ blocks the activation of the neutral trehalase induced by heat shock but not by osmotic stress.

Báo cáo khoa học: MAP2 prevents protein aggregation and facilitates reactivation of unfolded enzymes
It is well established that in addition to its functional role in cell motility, cell division and intracellular transport, cyto-skeletal protein tubulin also possesses significant chaperone-like activity. In vitro studies from our laboratory showed that dimeric tubulin can prevent stress induced aggregation of substrate proteins, can resist thermal deactivation of enzymes and can also refold enzymes from their fully dena-tured state [Manna, T., Sarkar, T., Poddar, A., Roy-chowdhury, M., Das, K.P. & Bhattacharyya, B....

Symbiosis between cnidarian and photosynthetic protists is widely distri-buted over temperate and tropical seas. These symbioses can periodically breakdown, a phenomenon known as cnidarian bleaching. This event can be irreversible for some associations subjected to acute and⁄or prolonged envi-ronmental disturbances, and leads to the death of the animal host.

Environmental stress deleteriously affects every aspect of an ectotherm’s biological function. Frequent exposure of terrestrial insects to temperature variation has thus led to the evolution of protective biochemical and phy-siological mechanisms. However, the physiological mechanisms underlying the positive impact of fluctuating thermal regimes (FTRs) on the fitness and survival of cold-exposed insects have not been studied.

Groups of oysters (Crassostrea gigas) were exposed to 25C for 24 days (controls to 13 C) to explore the biochemical and molecular pathways affected by prolonged thermal stress. This temperature is 4C above the summer seawater temperature encountered in western Brittany, France where the animals were collected.

Induction of heat shock proteins (HSPs) helps cells to survive severe hyper-thermal stress and removes toxic unfolded proteins. At the same time, the cap-dependent translation of global cellular mRNA is inhibited, due to the loss of function of eukaryotic initiation factor (eIF)4F complex.

Metal cutting puts extreme demands on the tool and tool material through conditions of high forces, high contact pressures, high temperatures, and intense chemical attack by difficult to cut work materials. In addition, the tool geometry and cutting conditions in terms of sharp edges, cyclic engagement and presence of cutting fluid will add to the severity. Most often cutting tools are used close to their ultimate resistance against these loads, especially to the limiting thermal and mechanical stresses. ...
