Jiaogulan (Gynostemma pentaphyllum (Thunb.) Makino) is distributed mostly in mountainous areas, in shaded and humid places at 300-3200 meters above sea level. This study was conducted to determine the appropriate application dose of nitrogen for the growth of Jiaogulan under different shading conditions.

Twenty one genotypes including check Krishna were evaluated in randomized block design with three replications during kharif-2017 at research farm of TCA, Dholi for estimation of genetic variability among them. Genotypes varied significantly for all the morpho-physiological characters indicating the presence of considerable variability among the genotypes. Significant bidirectional shift was observed in the mean values as compared to better check, thus provided scope for selection.

Metabolically unstable proteins are involved in a multitude of regulatory networks, including those that control cell signaling, the cell cycle and in many responses to physiological stress. In the present study, we have deter-mined the stability and characterized the degradation process of some members of the Gq class of heterotrimeric G proteins. Pulse-chase experi-ments in HEK293 cells indicated a rapid turnover of endogenously expressed Gaq and overexpressed Gaq and Ga16 subunits.

Inorder to clarify the role of cytochrome innitrate reductase we have performed spectrophotometric and stopped-flow kinetic studies of reduction and oxidation of the cytochrome hemes with analogues of physiological quinones, using menadione as an analogue of menaquinone and duro-quinone as an analogue of ubiquinone, and comparing the results with those obtained with dithionite. The spectropho-tometric studies indicate that reduction of the cytochrome hemes varies according to the analogue of quinoneused, and in no cases is it complete....

The formation of amyloid fibrils is associated with various human medical disorders of unrelated origin. Recent research indicates that self-assembled amyloid fibrils are also involved in physiological processes in several micro-organisms. Yet, the molecular basis for the recognition and self-assembly processes mediating the formation of such structures from their soluble protein precursors is not fully understood.

Bacillus subtilishas three active tyrosine kinases, PtkA, PtkB and McsB, which play an important role in the physiology of the bacterium. Genome sequence analysis and biochemical experiments indicated that the ortholog of McsB, BAS0080, is the only active tyrosine kinase present inBacillus anthracis.

This study was aimed at investigating the physiological role of ferredoxin-glutamate synthases (EC 1.4.1.7), NADH-glutamate synthase (EC 1.4.1.14) and carbamoylphosphate synthetase (EC 6.3.5.5) in Arabidopsis. Pheno-typic analysis revealed a high level of photorespiratory ammonium, gluta-mine⁄glutamate and asparagine⁄aspartate in theGLU1mutant lacking the major ferredoxin-glutamate synthase, indicating that excess photorespiratory ammonium was detoxified into amino acids for transport out of the veins....

Proteinase 3 and neutrophil elastase are serine proteinases of the polymor-phonuclear neutrophils, which are considered to have both similar localiza-tion and ligand specificity because of their high sequence similarity. However, recent studies indicate that they might have different and yet complementary physiologic roles.

Polyubiquitin receptors execute the targeting of polyubiquitylated proteins to the 26S proteasome. In vitro studies indicate that disturbance of the physiological balance among different receptor proteins impairs the prote-asomal degradation of polyubiquitylated proteins.

A variety of organisms have been investigated to evaluate their potential as biological indicators of different forms of pollution in the aquatic environment (e.g. review by Gunkel 1994). Certain species have been identified as being highly sensitive either in their physiological response to aquatic contaminants or in their ability to accumulate particular toxins in a dose-time dependent manner.
