Substitution effect

This paper aims to study the effect of coal bottom ash (CBA) as a fine aggregate substitution at high levels on the mechanical properties and microstructure characteristics of concrete. CBA that sourced from a local coal-fired power plant in Vietnam was used to replace the natural sand (NS) in the concrete mixtures at different levels of 0, 30, 50, 70, and 100%.

This thesis analyses the Australian resources equity market reaction to the 2010 resource tax announcements. These taxes were explicitly designed to meet tax neutrality conditions. Tax neutrality implies that taxes should not incur substitution effects that result in economic inefficiency. These taxes were intended to generate revenue (i.e., an income effect) while not distorting economic incentives.

By replacing specific amino acids at positions 112, 147 and 152 of the human aldosterone synthase (CYP11B2) with the corresponding residues from human, mouse or rat 11b-hydroxylase (CYP11B1), we have been able to investigate whether these residues belong to structural determinants of individual enzymatic activities. When incubated with 11-deoxycorticosterone (DOC), the 11b-hydroxylation activity of the mutants was most effectively increased by combining D147E and I112P (sixfold increase).

Models for the binding of the sarcin–ricin loop (SRL) of 28S ribosomal RNA to ricinAchain (RTA) suggest that several surface exposed arginine residues surrounding the active site cleft make important interactions with the RNA substrate. The structural and kinetic effects of amprenavir (APV), a clinical HIV pro-tease (PR) inhibitor, were analyzed with wild-type enzyme and mutants with single substitutions of V32I, I50V, I54V, I54M, I84V and L90M that are common in drug resistance.
