Effective properties

This paper aims to study the effect of coal bottom ash (CBA) as a fine aggregate substitution at high levels on the mechanical properties and microstructure characteristics of concrete. CBA that sourced from a local coal-fired power plant in Vietnam was used to replace the natural sand (NS) in the concrete mixtures at different levels of 0, 30, 50, 70, and 100%.

This study addresses these issues by using recycled lightweight aggregates (RLWA) from waste polystyrene plastic as an alternative for coal bottom ash in the production of lightweight composites (LWC) incorporating ternary binder materials of cement, fly ash, and ground granulated blast-furnace slag.

This study investigates the impact of intellectual property rights enforcement on Korea’s technological exports to 158 partner countries during 2010–2022. Using a gravity model and GMM estimation, the findings reveal a significant positive effect of IPR on exports across all technology levels.

Natural products have been gaining popularity in recent years as a safe skin-safe alternative solution to synthetic products on the market. In particular, natural ingredients have been found to have skinwhitening properties by inhibiting melanin production and reducing hyperpigmentation. Silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) with a size of around 9 nm were fabricated and quantified through fluorescence quenching of rhodamine B (RhB). A series of solutions composed of RhB with various concentrations of Ag NPs ranging from 0.09 pM to 0.98 pM were prepared, and optical properties were investigated by absorption and fluorescence spectroscopies.

Lead-free barium titanate based Ba1-xSrxTiO3 thin films (x = 0 ÷ 0.45) have been deposited onto Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si(100) substrate via sol–gel technique. The films were crystallized at temperature of 650 °C for 30 min in the air. The experimental data displayed that microstructure, dielectric and ferroelectric properties of the films were strongly influenced by the Sr concentration.

Resveratrol is a naturally occurring compound with anti-inflammatory properties. However, the protective molecular mechanisms of resveratrol against LPS-induced inflammation have not been thoroughly known. In the present study, we examined the antiinflammatory effect of resveratrol in inflammatory model using murine macrophage-like cell RAW264.7 stimulated with LPS. Resveratrol suppressed the production of inflammatory cytokines in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells with the IC50 value as 17.5 ± 0.7 μM for IL-6, 14.2 ± 1.9 μM for IL-10, and 18.9 ± 0.6 μM for TNF-α.

This study aims to contribute to the development of a GaN/Ga2O3 diode that can be utilized in high-power device applications. The simulated device is calibrated against experimental GaN and Ga2O3 diodes, considering the effect of thickness of GaN layer and its doping concentration on the performance of GaN/Ga2O3 diodes. The band structures of devices are investigated to revial which factors that affect the properties of GaN/Ga2O3 diode.
