Objective: to report on gender clinical characteristics and in-hospital outcomes for patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention at a leading cardiac centre in Vietnam.

Thyroid primary mucoepidermoid carcinoma is a malignant tumor classified as a salivary gland-type carcinoma of the thyroid. This type of tumor is extremely rare, with only a dozen cases reported to date, and has a high incidence in females. Due to its rarity, misdiagnosis can occur in clinical practice.

Vertebral artery dissection (VAD) is a rare cause of ischemic stroke in young patients. The largely nonspecific symptoms and delayed presentation pose a serious diagnostic challenge. Patients with VAD usually describe a trivial minor neck trauma preceding the event. Such traumas may be associated with spinal manipulation or sudden movements of the neck. We present an unusual case of vertebral artery dissection in a 27-year-old female patient following an episode of neck massage.

Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is a rare autosomal dominant disease, characterized by recurrence swelling of the skin or mucosal tissue, and may cause airway obstruction. It is caused by C1-esterase inhibitor (C1-INH) deficiency, or dysfunction of C1-INH, therefore increased bradykinin and kallikrein production, which causes vasodilation, increases vascular permeability and localized fluid extravasation results in angioedema.

Candidal granuloma is a rare disease and treatment is still difficult in clinical practice. This disease is common in immunocompromised patients. Herein, we report a case of a 63-year-old man who presented with Candidal granuloma caused by Candida parapsilosis. The diagnosis was confirmed according to fungal culture. The patient was successfully treated with oral fluconazole and terbinafine.

The 2 most common types of amyloidosis are light chain (AL) that is associated with plasma cell dyscrasias and reactive (AA) that is associated with chronic inflammatory conditions. This case demonstrates the importance of generating a broad differential and the pivotal role of physical examination and endoscopic findings in diagnosing uncommon diseases.

Malignant or necrotizing otitis externa (MOE) is a severe infectious condition of the external ear canal. It is rare but has a high mortality rate due to complications such as osteomyelitis of the skull base and intracranial involvement. This report aims to analyze the clinical and paraclinical characteristics and progression of the disease to draw lessons for the diagnosis and treatment of this dangerous condition.

The images of diffuse lung involvement are seen in various respiratory diseases, including lung adenocarcinoma (ADC). After ruling out acute infectious causes, lung biopsy is valuable for a definitive diagnosis, with transbronchial biopsy via flexible bronchoscopy being an effective and safe diagnostic approach.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a malignant tumor arising from the inner lining of the colon or rectum and is the third most common cancer and the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. This article reports two cases of heavily pretreated metastatic CRC (mCRC) with HER2 overexpression who achieved a remarkable clinical response to trastuzumab plus pertuzumab.

Carcinoma in patients with traumatic brain injury having retained metal foreign bodies does not commonly exist. Complications of local cancer by traumatic brain injury, having retained metal foreign bodies can occasionally occur. Changes mainly appear at the wound due to chronic inflammation and cell hyperplasia, which leads to cancer.

Extended mediastinal with bilateral recurrent laryngeal nerves (RLNs) lymph node dissection (LND) is critical to curative surgery in the treatment of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Some reports in Robotic transthoracic esophagectomy (RTE) have some advantages over Thoracoscopic esophagectomy (TE) in increasing the exposure and accuracy of mediastinal LND. However, published data was still limited.

Dental caries is a multifactorial and dynamic disease caused by damage to dental hard tissues. It is known as the most common disease of oral health conditions in school-aged children. Caries can affect children’s quality of life, such as studying, recreational activities, and psychosocial well-being. In recent years, some studies done in other provinces of Vietnam reported that the rate of dental caries in primary and permanent dentition was still high.

Burns, especially heat-related ones, are one of the most common injuries in work and daily life. If patients are not treated properly, burns can leave a lot of sequelae which would negatively affect not only daily activities, working ability but also aesthetics and psychology of the patients. Most topical treatments have been reported that they have some adverse effects and unintentionally prolong the length of hospital stay.

The K103N substitution is a frequently observed HIV-1 RT mutation in patients who do not respond to combinationtherapy. The drugs Efavirenz, MSC194 and PNU142721 belong to the recent generation of NNRTIs characterized by an improved resistance profile to the most common single point mutations within HIV-1 RT, including the K103N mutation. In the present study we present structural observations from Efavirenz in complex with wild-type protein and the K103N mutant and PNU142721 and MSC194 in complex with the K103N mutant.

The dinitrogenase component proteins of the conventional Mo nitrogenase (MoFe protein) and of the alternative Fe-only nitrogenase (FeFe protein) were both isolated and purified from Rhodobacter capsulatus, redox-titrated according to the same procedures and subjected to an EPR spectroscopic comparison. In the course of an oxidative titration of the MoFe protein (Rc1Mo) three significant S ¼ 1/2 EPR signals deriving from oxidized states of the P-cluster were detected: (1) a rhombic signal (g ¼ 2.07, 1.96 and 1.

DNA of prokaryotes is in a nonequilibrium structural state, characterized as ÔactiveÕ DNA supercoiling. Alterations in this state aect many life processes and a homeostatic control of DNA supercoiling has been suggested [Menzel, R. & Gellert, M. (1983) Cell 34, 105±113]. We here report on a new method for quantifying homeostatic control of the high-energy state of in vivo DNA. The method involves making small perturbation in the expression of topoisomerase I, and measuring the eect on DNA supercoiling of a reporter plasmid and on the expression of DNA gyrase....
